We Are Better than They are !

This is the greatest country on the face of the earth. We are a great people. We are a smart, wise, and thoughtful people, and for over 200 years we have served as liberty's light for millions and millions of others born to despotism and poverty. It is our duty, my friends, to stand as an example of integrity and honor to the next generation, just as the generation before us did.

Now, Al Gore and his surrogates - whether they be employees of his campaign or an attorney who was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention - are not worthy at this moment of the great traditions and institutions that made this nation great.

We are better than they are. The people of this country, the people who make it work, the people who get up every day and tackle life's challenges, are all better than this collection of humanity the Gore campaign has assembled to achieve victory for themselves.

And, as opponents in the arena of ideas, we deserve better than the kind of people they are. We are better than this kind of politics. We are better than these kinds of politicians.

In this election, Al Gore can't run on his record, and refuses to mention any of the achievements his administration falsely takes credit for. This is because his record is not one to be proud of or to get elected on. For example, he has done nothing to shore up the financially troubled Social Security and Medicare systems. He has raised taxes on senior citizens and on gasoline. He has helped cut the military to dangerously low levels. Military morale is at the lowest level in recent history.

Now, Al Gore wants to nationalize prescription drugs, forcing low- and middle-income families to subsidize the drug purchases of millionaires and billionaires.

The Gore campaign knows that won't sell, so, instead of pushing a positive agenda, they've been throwing mud balls of the worst kind at George W. Bush.

This is not the conduct of a man who is worthy of our highest public office. This is not a man who can lead and unite a great country. He's not a man who can be respected and trusted. He is a man who seeks personal power for the sole purpose of exercising it.

Al Gore has lied and skirted the law repeatedly these past few years. He lied about his role in raising illegal campaign cash at the Buddhist temple. He lied about his role in meeting with top Clinton officials in the map room of the White House, where Leon Panetta and Harold Ickes briefed him on raising campaign cash.

More offenses:

Al Gore lied about his role in dialing for dollars from his office in the White House complex, then said there was "no controlling legal authority" preventing him from doing so. He lied about his role in over twenty coffee fund-raisers at the White House.
Again, Al Gore's violations all occurred while he was vice president - not 24 years ago. It occurred after he swore on a Bible of his choosing to uphold the law of the land.
