Gore: The Hypocrite

Everything that is wrong with Al Gore as a man and a Presidential candidate can be summed up by his response to George W. Bush's selection of Dick Cheney as a running mate.
Gore is attacking Cheney for his conservative voting record, ignoring the fact that he, too, had a very conservative voting record when they were in Congress together.  During his six terms in Congress between 1978 and 1989, Cheney voted like the right-leaning Republican he is.  He admits it and stands by his record proudly.
But he also points out Gore received an "A" from the National Rifle Association and a 94 percent positive rating from the National Right to Life Committee when he was a congressman from Tennessee during the 1980s.  Pretty odd for a Democratic nominee who is pro-gun control and swears he has always been pro-choice, isn't it?  Actually, it's painfully straightforward: Gore panders.  He says whatever he thinks will get him elected, depending on whether he wants a congressional seat in the traditionally conservative South or the White House in an era of centrist politics.  Gore and Cheney were two peas in a pod during the 1980s, but since then, only one of those peas has demonstrated the political courage befitting a President or Vice President.
